In this article, you will find information about the fuses of the Kia Sportage (NB) (models 2000, and 2001), including diagrams of the fuse boxes, a list of fuses and relays, their designation, and the location of the fuse blocks within the vehicle.
Checking and Replacing Fuses in Kia Sportage
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses. If any of your vehicle’s lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will he melted.
Caution!
- Turn Ihe ignition switch and all other switches off.
- Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating.
- Never replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.
- A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly a tire.
- Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
Location of Fuse Boxes
Passenger Compartment:
Located in the driver’s side kick panel.
Engine Compartment:
The engine compartment near the battery. Remove the fuse block cover by unhooking the tab on one end and tilting the cover back toward the other end.
If the 80A “MAIN” fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows:
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the nuts “A” in the photo below.
- Lift the fuse block and remove the bolts “B” the photo below.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same 80A rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
