In this article, you will find information about the fuses of the GMC Yukon/Yukon XL (GMT800) (models 2000, 2001, and 2002) , including diagrams of the fuse boxes, a list of fuses and relays, their designation, and the location of the fuse blocks within the vehicle.
Checking and Replacing Fuses in GMC Yukon
The wiring circuits in your vehicle are protected from short circuits by a combination of fuses, circuit breakers and fusible thermal links. This greatly reduces the chance of fires caused by electrical problems. Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. You may have spare fuses located behind the fuse block access door. These can be used to replace a bad fuse. Circuit breakers protect the power windows and other power accessories. If the current load is too heavy, the circuit breaker opens and then closes after a cool down period, protecting the circuit until the problem is fixed or goes away.
Caution!
Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating.
Location of Fuse Boxes
Instrument Panel Fuse Block:
The fuse block access door is on the driver’s side edge of the instrument panel. Pull off the cover to access the fuse block.
Center Instrument Panel Fuse Block:
The center instrument panel utility block is located underneath the instrument panel, to the left of the steering column.
Underhood Electrical Center:
The underhood electrical center is located on the driver’s side of the engine compartment near the battery. Lift the cover for access to the fuse/relay block.
The windshield wiper motor is protected by an internal circuit breaker and a fuse. If the motor overheats due to heavy snow, etc., the wiper will stop until the motor cools.
