Checking and Replacing Fuses in GMC Acadia
Fuses and Circuit Breakers The wiring circuits in your vehicle are protected from short circuits by a combination of fuses, circuit breakers and fusible thermal links. This greatly reduces the chance of fires caused by electrical problems. Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse.
Caution!
- Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating.
- Do not remove, open, take apart, or modify these devices.
- High voltage cable or wiring has orange covering. Do not probe, tamper with, cut, or modify high voltage cable or wiring.
Location of Fuse Boxes
Engine Compartment Fuse Block:
The underhood fuse block is located in the engine compartment, on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. Lift the cover for access to the fuse/relay block.
Instrument Panel Fuse Block:
The instrument panel fuse block is located under the instrument panel on the passenger side of the vehicle. Pull down on the cover to access the fuse block.
The windshield wiper motor is protected by a circuit breaker and a fuse. If the motor overheats due to heavy snow or ice, the wiper will stop until the motor cools.
An electrical overload may cause the lamps to go on and off, or in some cases to remain off. Have the headlamp wiring checked right away if the lamps go on and off or remain off.
