In this article, you will find information about the fuses of the Chevrolet Prizm / Geo Prizm (models 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002), including diagrams of the fuse boxes, a list of fuses and relays, their designation, and the location of the fuse blocks within the vehicle.
Checking and Replacing Fuses in Chevy Prizm
The wiring circuits in your vehicle are protected from short circuits by fuses, circuit breakers and fusible thermal links in the wiring itself. This greatly reduces the chance of fires caused by electrical problems. Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the correct size.
Caution!
Data on the replacement fuse must match the data on the defective fuse. Do not exceed the specified amperage rating when replacing fuses and circuit breakers. Use of an oversized fuse or circuit breaker can result in a vehicle fire.
Location of Fuse Boxes
Instrument Panel Fuse Block:
The fuse block is located below the dimmer switch, behind the storage compartment cover.
To remove the storage compartment cover, do the following:
- Open the storage compartment door.
- Lift the storage compartment door cover up and off.
Engine Compartment Fuse Blocks:
Most of your vehicle’s fuses are in the engine compartment fuse block. Some are in three electrical centers in the engine compartment. These electrical centers also have relays, circuit breakers and other electrical components.
