Checking and Replacing Fuses in Chevy Metro
The wiring circuits in your vehicle are protected from short circuits by fuses, circuit breakers and thermal links in the wiring itself. This greatly reduces the chance of fires caused by electrical problems. Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the correct size.
There are two fuse blocks in your vehicle: the engine compartment fuse block and the instrument panel fuse block.
Caution!
Fuses and circuit breakers are marked with their ampere rating. Do not exceed the specified amperage rating when replacing fuses and circuit breakers. Use of an oversized fuse or circuit breaker can result in a vehicle fire.
Location of Fuse Boxes
Instrument Panel Fuse Block:
This fuse box is under the left side of the instrument panel. To open it, squeeze the short sides and pull off the cover. The fuses here protect each separate circuit including headlamps. If you have electrical failure, check here first.
Engine Compartment Fuse Block:
The main fuse box is in your engine compartment on the driver’s side. For access to the main fuses, squeeze the tabs on the sides and pull off the cover.
