In this article, you will find information about the fuses of the Cadillac Seville (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004), including diagrams of the fuse boxes, a list of fuses and relays, their designation, and the location of the fuse blocks within the vehicle.
Checking and Replacing Fuses in Cadillac Seville
Fuses and Circuit Breakers The wiring circuits in your vehicle are protected from short circuits by a combination of fuses and circuit breakers. This greatly reduces the chance of fires caused by electrical problems. Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating. If a MaxiFuse should blow, see your dealer for service immediately.
Location of Fuse Boxes
Underhood Fuse Block:
The front Bussed Electrical Center (BEC) is located in the front of the engine compartment between the windshield washer fluid reservoir and the power steering fluid reservoir (on the passenger’s side). Lift the cover to gain access.
Rear Underseat Fuse Block:
The rear BEC is located under the rear seat on the driver’s side. The rear seat cushion must be removed to access the BEC.
To Remove the Rear Seat Cushion
1. Pull up on the front of the cushion to release the front hooks.
2. Pull the cushion up and out toward the front of the vehicle.
To Reinstall the Rear Seat Cushion
1. Buckle the center passenger position safety belt, then route the safety belts through the proper slots in the seat cushion. Don’t let the safety belts get twisted.
2. Slide the rear of the cushion up and under the seatback so the rear-locating guides hook into the wire loops on the back frame.
3. With the seat cushion lowered, push rearward and then press down on the seat cushion until the spring locks on both ends engage.
4. Check to make sure the safety belts are properly routed and that no portion of any safety belt is trapped under the seat. Also make sure the seat cushion is secured.
The headlamp wiring has an individual fuse. An electrical overload will cause the lamps to go on and off, or in some cases to remain off. If this happens, have the headlamp wiring checked right away.
A circuit breaker protects the wiper motor. A MaxiFuse powers the wiper motor. If the MaxiFuse blows, there is an electrical problem. Be sure to have it fixed.
