In this article, you will find information about the fuses of the DeVille (models 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005), including diagrams of the fuse boxes, a list of fuses and relays, their designation, and the location of the fuse blocks within the vehicle.
Checking and Replacing Fuses in Cadillac DeVille
The wiring circuits in your vehicle are protected from short circuits by a combination of fuses and circuit breakers. This greatly reduces the chance of fires caused by electrical problems. Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating. If a MaxiFuse should blow, have your vehicle serviced by your dealer immediately. The headlamp wiring system has four individual fuses, LF low, RF low, LF high and RF high.

Location of Fuse Boxes
Underhood Junction Block:
The front Bussed Electrical Center (BEC) is located next to the engine on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. To access the fuse block, push in the two tabs located on the top and the bottom of the fuse block cover.
Rear Underseat Bussed Electrical Center:
The rear BEC is located under the rear seat on the driver’s side. The rear seat cushion must be removed to access the BEC.
Removing the Rear Seat Cushion:
The battery and main fuse boxes are located under the rear seat cushion. The battery’s ground terminal and some relay wires are exposed. To help avoid damage to the battery and wires, be careful when removing or reinstalling the seat cushion. Do not remove covers from covered parts. Do not store anything under the seat, as objects could touch exposed wires and cause a short.
- Pull up on the front of the cushion to release the front hooks.
- Pull the cushion up and out toward the front of the vehicle.
To Reinstall the Rear Seat Cushion:
- Buckle the center passenger position safety belt, then route the safety belts through the proper slots in the seat cushion. Don’t let the safety belts get twisted.
- Slide the rear of the cushion up and under the seatback so the rear-locating guides hook into the wire loops on the back frame.
- With the seat cushion lowered, push rearward and then press down on the seat cushion until the spring locks on both ends engage.
